God Talk
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. When I stand on the shores of the ocean and look over that broad blue expanse into infinity, somehow I know there is a God. When I look at the mountains with all their power and glory and majesty, they whisper to me of the hands that made them. When I look around my world and see everything in its proper place and order, I know that behind all creation is an infinite, all-powerful being called God.
Whenever I am asked to share my views about God in any congregation, my throat runs dry. Whenever I try to pen an article about His glory, His majesty, ink seems to be insufficient to express my thoughts. Tears start running from my eyes as I feel His presence but can’t express about Him as he is beyond all senses, comprehension and intelligence. We human will never be able to express about Him correctly because He is Almighty God and we are humans.
However, on this page I will try to capture some of my thoughts about God to express my gratitude to Him to the best of my capabilities. Please bear with me if I fall short of your or His expectations. ....... - Bhupinder
Who is God ?
God has been described as everything from an impersonal “force” to a personal “almighty Creator”. Various religions and faiths have called Him by many names, such as: "Zeus”, "Brahma”, "Allah," "Waheguru" to name just a few.
Majority of people have their own images and opinions of “Supreme Being”. These are simply reflections of how they perceive God. Therefore, the word “God” has many meanings for different people. He is seen by some as "Mother Nature" and by others as "Father God." However, whenever God refers to Himself as a parent, He always addresses Himself as "Father," never as "Mother." He calls Himself "a Father to Israel". His prophets acknowledged Him as Father by saying, "You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand," Never once does God refer to Himself as "Mother" and never once is He called “mother” by the prophets to whom He spoke. Calling God "Mother Nature" is comparable to calling your earthly father "Mom."
What Does God Care About?
In order to answer this question, we need to understand how did the Creator revealed Himself to man? The main way God revealed Himself is through His Word. The Bible is a book about God and His relationship with humans. It contains a long history of God's revelation of Himself to man—from Adam to Moses down to apostles and early Church.
In contrast to many human assumptions, the Bible depicts a true picture of God. This remarkable book reveals what He is like, what He has done and what He expects of us. It tells us why we are here and reveals His little-understood plan for His creation. This book is fundamentally different from any other source of information and is genuinely unique because it contains, in many ways, the very signature of the Almighty.
Let’s take a closer look in the Word of God to understand who is He and what are His attributes. What does God have to say about Himself in this regard?
God is a Spirit and we should worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
God is Life & Truth. He gives us promises in the Bible that were true centuries ago, are true today, and will be true tomorrow. He has promised us ‘life’ and ‘abundant life.’ So if His Word is true, He is Truth.
God is infinite, eternal and unchangeable (Malachi 3:6, Psalm 90:2)
God is wisdom Psalm 147:5.
God delights in justice and righteousness: Justice and equity are very important to God. But so are grace and mercy. Therefore, while God will hold everyone accountable for their own lives, He extends His grace to the repentant sinner because He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Rather the sinner should turn from his ways and live.
God is power (Revelation 19:6)
God is Grace and Mercy for He has forgiven us for our past mistakes and sins. He is longsuffering, wanting no one to perish.
God is holy Isaiah 57:15
God is the Creator of all of the universe and beyond. His divine plan has placed us in the exact place to support our life and that of our world.
God is good his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:5.
God is all seeing, all knowing, all wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. He is above all. .....Previous Talk
